Methodology

  • Urban (6 counties): Harris, Dallas, Tarrant, Bexar, Travis, El Paso — core counties of Texas’s major metropolitan areas.
  • Suburban (29 counties): Counties with 50,000+ votes in the 2024 presidential election, excluding urban cores. Includes Collin, Williamson, Denton, Fort Bend, Montgomery, and others.
  • Rural (219 counties): All remaining counties with fewer than 50,000 votes in 2024.
  • Turnout is measured using the top-of-ballot statewide race: President in presidential years, Governor in midterm years.
  • R% is calculated as Republican / (Republican + Democrat), excluding third-party votes.
